One Smith family holiday tradition I look forward to all year long is going out into the Northern California woods and cutting down a Christmas tree.
Every trip out into the forest offers something different. Some years are warm and sunny, others muddy and cold, we have had waist deep snow that makes every tree look 4 feet tall.
This year was prefect, a little snow, not too cold, sun breaking through the pines just enough to warm things up. We got an awesome tree that I'm sure led to an awesome Christmas. (plus my nieces found a spine, and bear poop)
